Usui Reiki Rhoyo is a Japanese spiritual practice and energy healing method. It was founded by Mikao Usui - a scholar, Tendai Buddhist monk, Samurai-trained martial artist and spiritual teacher - in the early 1900s.
Pronounced “RAY-kee”, it translates to “Universal Life Force Energy” and is a gentle, safe and non-invasive therapy that works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. It is used around the world in a complementary role to conventional medicine.
Usui emphasised that the purpose of Reiki was to bring peace, natural healing and health to oneself and others. He called it, “The secret method for inviting happiness”.
To receive Reiki, all you have to do is lie on the couch (with pillows, cushions and blankets for your comfort), close your eyes and drift away while soft music plays. We use the lightest of touch, or work just above the body, adopting set hand positions to restore balance through the chakra system.
You might feel heat and tingling or hear your tummy gently gurgling. You may release emotion through tears or even giggles. Some people see aura colours and experience a serene sense of oneness with the Universe. Or you may simply feel more relaxed than you have in years and fall asleep. We trust the Reiki to flow where it is needed for your greatest and highest good.
At the end of a session, we sweep your aura and allow you to gently “come to” from your relaxed state. The intention is to bring you relief from overwhelm, leaving you grounded and more able to take on life’s challenges with authority, courage and calm.
In the days following a Reiki treatment, drink plenty of water and take notice of how you are feeling. Rest when you can and avoid alcohol, or other stimulants, to support your natural healing process. AKA look after yourself.

Verbalising thoughts in a focused space allows you to move past surface-level ideas or confusion and find a deeper level of insight. It often brings emotional clarity through the release of unexpressed feelings that might be inhibiting your problem solving and decision making abilities.
Grounded in principles of ease, encouragement, equality and appreciation, this practice is free from pressure. It is designed for you to think for yourself, guided by the flow of your inner authority.
